Can you maximize learning through the gamification of your elearning or in-person session?
Augmented reality can be a shiny object that some have tried to use in training simply to use the technology, but it can also be used with profound results. This is just one example of a “radioactive” element that can be used in training programs, and in this podcast I’ll talk briefly about a variety of these elements.
On Monday, we shared a podcast featuring gamification expert Karl Kapp who talked about Easter Eggs in a learning context. As a follow-up, several readers offered ways they’ve used Easter Eggs effectively in their learning programs.
“Easter Eggs” are a game element that can bring randomness, joy and delight to training programs. They’re “next level” instructional design elements that can offer surprising new ways for learners to access content.

“Games” and “gamification” are different, but both can be very powerful elements when it comes to effective and engaging learning design. Oh, and according to Karl Kapp, the main object of a learning game or gamified learning experiences isn’t to make a training program “fun”.

Of all the many games out there, maybe a simple game of BINGO is what you need to see if your learners are “getting it”.
I know for a fact my experience with gamification is not unique. I have failed more than once to make games work in training.
