Train-the-Trainer: The Game

A train-the-trainer session is a great time to use a game to help trainers build their facilitation skill set.

Join Brian Washburn for this free 90-minute training session. We’re trading in our slides for game pieces as you play Train the Trainer: The Game, a hands-on activity with a simple goal: don’t lose your reputation as a trainer!

Working in teams, you’ll draw Endurance cards, navigate hazard cards, and make strategic choices that put core training competencies to the test. You’ll surface your strengths and spotlight areas ripe for growth along the way.

Beyond the fun of play, we’ll pull back the curtain on the game’s design, examining the mechanics (risk, resource management, reputation-as-stakes) that make gamified professional development so effective for skill-building and retention. You’ll leave having both sharpened your own training instincts and gained a framework for applying game-based design to your own professional development initiatives.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, you will be able to…

  1. Navigate a series of challenges to identify your strengths and areas for improvement as training professionals
  2. Analyze the mechanics behind a gamified approach to professional development for training professionals

Important Notes about Train-the-Trainer: The Game

While we will talk about game design, this will be a hands-on training session and will last for 90 minutes. Please make sure you can attend for the full 90 minutes. Unlike our other free webinars, we will not share a recording of this session for later viewing.

Beyond the Click: How to Create Elearning That Drives Action

When our learners join us for a virtual or in-person training session we can lead activities and observe whether learners are making connections and learning new skills. When it comes to elearning, many designers struggle to design interactions that help learners demonstrate that they are “getting it”?
